Product Description

Mr & Mrs R. Conway & Mr & Mrs R. Williams are offering for auction to the benefit of Birmingham Children's Hospital a unique electric guitar display case with an artwork created specifically for the case by the artist Lea Williams.

This particular display case is hand built and made of solid oak and has integrated interior ultraviolet LED lighting, it also has UV protective glass in the door.

It is designed to be wall mounted but will be displayed on a stand. That will need some stage weights to stabilise it.

The RnR Showcase would have a retail value £2550, but with Tony's signature on the artwork it's value at auction could be priceless!

The Backstory:

In 1977 a young sound guy called Rob Conway was at a house party near Tamworth when Tony Iommi and his friend Albert arrived. No one would engage with the rock star, so Rob took his chance and asked if he could sit next to him. There was a long conversation about the life in music to that point. Notwithstanding his rock star image, he was a gentleman to talk to.

Jump to April 2002, Rob Conway's then 10 year old daughter Helen was rushed to Birmingham Children's Hospital through the intervention of the family GP, Dr Michael Abdou. After her surgery to remove her gallbladder, she made a full recovery. Now a mother to four children and 3 stepchildren. She lives a full life and is currently studying for a third degree, this one being paediatric nursing and is often found on placement at, of all places... Birmingham Children's Hospital.

My family shared a doctor with Tony, in the late Dr Michael Abdou, who was so kind in his treatment of our family. To his memory and with profound respect to the work of Birmingham Children's Hospital we wish the auction is a success. Thanks to all involved in the event on the 5th July.
