Saint Michael’s, Herriot Hospice Homecare and Just ‘B’

We are an independent charity made up a family of services, offering high quality, personalised end of life care to people living with terminal illness and their families, across Hambleton, Richmondshire and the Harrogate District.

Our specialist team offers core hospice-based services, including an in-patient unit at our Saint Michael’s Crimple House Hospice, personalised care delivered by our HOME Service in the place people call home, and Just ‘B’ bereavement and emotional well-being support.

Our response to the pandemic

Our services have adapted quickly to respond to the needs of our community. Over the past year we have seen a 30% increase in demand on our HOME Service, and our Just ‘B’ bereavement and emotional wellbeing service is supporting over 60 bereaved adults, young people and children every week.

Our dedicated teams have risen to this challenge, ensuring people get the care they need, want and deserve at the end of their lives.

Our ongoing work providing the Hear to Help anxiety helpline for our local communities, and our national helpline which supports front-line NHS and blue light teams during the Covid -19 crisis, will become increasingly more important the longer this pandemic continues.

The impact of COVID-19 has been difficult and gets increasingly more difficult the longer it continues. We have been unable to run our usual campaigns and events that are so popular with our communities. That is why events such as our Festive Auction are so important in helping us to raise the vital funds we need to maintain our support to local people and their families.

We remain focussed on the things that matter; providing vital care and doing as much as we can to support our community through this difficult time. We do so whilst working hard to protect this care for patients of today, tomorrow and the future.
