About Us

The Doddie Drive

MTX Golf is delighted to support the My Name'5 Doddie Foundation as official charity partners for future golf tournaments. Our Doddie Drive events will take place at different courses throughout the year. During this event you and your playing partner will have the opportunity to play some amazing courses as well as help raise funds for MNDF.

On Thursday 23rd September our Doddie Drive will take place at the scenic Duke's Course in St Andrews in support of the Foundation. Every single penny raised will go to the charity, funding vital reasearch to help find a cure to MND, as well as supporting those suffering from the disease.

We would like to thank everyone for taking part in our event and to everyone who has donated prizes. We can't wait to do our bit for Doddie!

My Name'5 Doddie Foundation

The My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and we are absolutely committed to our vision of a world free of MND, leaving no stone unturned in our relentless pursuit of this goal. All the funds raised through the prize draw and auction will help us fund important research projects and support ongoing clinical trials to help fund meaningful treatments for MND and hopefully, one day, find a cure. As well as helping us fund grants, giving considerable sums to our friends at MND Association and MND Scotland to administer to individuals and families living with MND. The Foundation is committed to helping improve the lives of those affected by Motor Neuron Disease.

About The Founder

Doddie Weir OBE is one of rugby’s most recognisable personalities. He earned 61 caps for Scotland during a successful playing career, represented the British and Irish Lions on their successful tour to South Africa in 1997, and won championships with his two club sides, Melrose and Newcastle Falcons. A talented, committed and athletic lock forward, Doddie is now facing his biggest challenge. In June 2017 the Scot revealed he was suffering from Motor Neuron Disease. From the outset, Doddie has been driven to help fellow sufferers and seek ways to further research into this, as yet, incurable disease.

In November 2017, Doddie and his trustees launched the registered charity, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Our vision is simple: A World Free of MND. The number “5” is a special number for the Foundation. It features in the Foundation’s name and is a reference to Doddie’s playing number for his clubs, Melrose and Newcastle Falcons, and the jersey he wore when he earned his 61 caps for Scotland.

Charity Number: SC 047871
