We are a grant-making charity and fund life-changing projects across the UK & Ireland.
We have a national footprint, but the largest part of our income is raised by local volunteers. Our aim is that every penny that our volunteers raise is spent in their local communities. In the last year, despite the difficult conditions, we raised and distributed £1,000,700 in grants to support 107 charitable projects helping over 113,000 children and young people living with disabilities, disadvantaged or disenfranchised.
But we need your help more than ever as more children need our help. In the last year Wooden Spoon was only able to fund one in four of the grant applications we received due to the increased demand for our support.

A call to all rugby enthusiasts to be part of an historic event as Wooden Spoon and LooseHeadz announce Guinness World Record attempt for longest rugby games.
Supported by the British & Irish Lions, Wooden Spoon, the children’s charity of rugby, and LooseHeadz, the mental health rugby charity, are excited to announce their joint attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest rugby games ever played and raise over £100K for charities. This historic event will take place in Dublin on 18-19 June 2025, just days before the British & Irish Lions take on Argentina’s Pumas.
Make Rugby History with the British & Irish Lions
The record attempt will feature two concurrent matches – men’s and women’s – aiming to shatter the current records of 30 hours 29 minutes 41 seconds (men’s) held by Wooden Spoon and School of hard Knocks and 24 hours 5 minutes 15 seconds (women’s). Participants will have the unique opportunity to meet ex-Lions legends and TV presenter Craig Doyle , who will lend their support as team managers, referees, water carriers, and more. Imagine receiving a pep talk from a Lions legend as you push through the marathon match.
Participants will also have the unforgettable experience of walking onto the pitch during halftime at the British & Irish Lions vs. Argentina Pumas match at the Aviva Stadium on Friday, June 20, 2025, cheered on by 50,000 fans as newly crowned Guinness World Record holders.
Once-in-a-Lifetime Opportunity
This incredible event is open to just 92 participants: two squads of 23 men and two squads of 23 women. Players of all abilities are welcome – stamina and teamwork are more important than skill level. Kick-off is on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, with the marathon matches running non-stop until Thursday evening, culminating in celebrations as both records are broken.
